Kiara M. Matthews, SLPD, CCC-SLP

Say hi to our Lead Speech-Language Pathologist and founder, Kiara Matthews, SLPD, CCC-SLP, fondly known as Aunty Kiara, who has been practicing since 2014.

Although she started her undergraduate studies at UWI St. Augustine, she attained her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Howard University in 2012. She holds a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University and a Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology degree at Northwestern University.

Kiara is a former President of the Speech-Language Audiology Association of Trinidad and Tobago, of the Caribbean Speech-Language Hearing Association, and  is the current Chairperson of the Occupational Therapy Speech-Language Pathology Board of Trinidad and Tobago. She is also registered with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

While her caseload comprises mainly young children, she has a particular soft spot for voice disorders as she is a singer - a member of the prolific Lydian Singers.

Fun facts: Aunty Kiara has 3 daughters whose names all begin with C but each C is pronounced differently. Also, if she weren’t an SLP, she would want to compose music for film and theatre. (PS. She has already composed pieces for solo voice, choir, piano and steelband).
